Upper vs. Lower Dentures
Upper dentures can be made to have suction. Most people can wear them successfully. A small percentage of people have a very strong gag reflex which does not allow them to wear a full upper denture which covers the palate. Implants with Locator snaps can retain and denture without a palate.
Lower dentures are less stable and retentive than upper dentures. More people have problems wearing lower dentures. Implants can help stabilize and retain a problematic lower denture.

These dentures usually consist of replacement teeth attached to gum-colored plastic bases. Depending on your needs, Dr. Deegan will design a partial denture especially for you. A partial denture may have a metal framework and clasps that connect to your remaining natural teeth, making it secure and stable. Some cases can be designed with Porcelain Crowns on some remaining teeth with precision attachments which a removable partial denture will snap into, with no visible metal clasps and a lot more retention.
