An intra-oral scanner is used to make a 3-dimensional picture of the teeth. In many cases, you don’t need to take traditional impression. Dr. Deegan uses the Trios Scanner (computer-aided design and manufacturing) software to custom design crowns and other small restorations. The design is sent from the laptop computer to a milling machine in our office and the crown is carved out of a ceramic block, called eMax (lithium disilicate). The ceramic tooth is then color stained and glazed in a furnace and Dr. Deegan’s custom designed tooth is made ready for insertion into your mouth, sometimes in just a few hours!
There are other materials, such as zirconia, that crowns can be made of depending on the specifications of the case. These digital files or impressions can be sent to an off site laboratory as needed.
Our goal is to help every patient experience the benefits of good oral health and a beautiful smile. We value the trust you have placed in our office and strive to provide solutions that meet your dental needs and expectations of care.
